Pituitary Rongeur With Teeth
Description
Pituitary Rongeur With Teeth
Preparing a disc space for fusion is a grip problem. Annulus and cartilage are tough, slippery and firmly attached, and a smooth cup jaw lets them slide as you pull.
The teeth at the end of this jaw solve that. They catch the tissue and hold it while the cup takes the bite, so material comes away in one deliberate movement instead of three attempts. In ACDF and posterior interbody work that is the difference between a clean endplate and a long afternoon.
Two widths, 2mm and 3mm, on a 7″ shaft. Elsewhere in the trade this pattern is listed as a rat-tooth or Williams pituitary rongeur. Same idea, different name.
A word of caution worth printing: teeth grip tissue firmly and do not distinguish between annulus and anything else that finds its way into the jaw. This is an instrument for deliberate, visualized bites.
Black non-glare finish, and made to be serviced rather than replaced.
