Cushing Pituitary Rongeurs
This is the core of the pituitary range, with the configurations most sets are built from, all in one place.
Angle. Straight for working down the barrel of the approach. Angled up to lift material off the endplate or take it from above the jaw. Angled down to reach beneath an overhang without rotating your wrist out of position.
Length. 7″ for cervical and shallow posterior work; 9″ as the general-purpose lumbar length; 11″ and 14″ where the corridor is deep, the patient is large, or the approach is lateral.
Cup width. Eight sizes from 0.5mm to 6mm. The smallest cups are for microdiscectomy and cervical work where a bigger jaw simply will not enter the space; the largest clear a disc space in few passes.
The jaws are cup-shaped for grasping and removing disc and cartilage. That sets it apart from a Kerrison, which is a bone punch. If you are choosing between the two for a given step, the rule of thumb is that a Kerrison takes bone and a pituitary takes what is behind it.
Black non-glare finish throughout, and built to be serviced, resharpened and kept in the set for years.
