Peapod Pituitary Rongeur
The Peapod gets its name from the shape of the jaws: long, slim and shallow rather than deep and round. That profile is what lets it work in a space a conventional cup jaw cannot enter, which is why it has become a quiet favorite in anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.
The jaws take disc, cartilage and small bone fragments cleanly instead of crushing and smearing them, so the space clears in fewer passes and you spend less time going back for the same fragment.
Six cup widths from 1mm to 4mm and two lengths, 5.5″ for cervical and shallow work and 7″ for a deeper reach, in straight and up-angled versions. The up-angle lifts material off the endplate without you having to tilt the whole instrument.
A naming note for anyone cross-referencing a catalog: most manufacturers list this pattern as the Peapod IVD rongeur or intervertebral disc rongeur. Same instrument.
