Kerrison Rongeur, 40° and 90° Up
Biting upward is the default for a reason. Working from behind, the bone you want is above the jaw, and a Kerrison that bites up takes it without asking your wrist to do anything unnatural.
This is the broadest configuration in the line, because it is the one that has to fit every set. Six footplate options: standard, thin and ultra-thin, each with or without an ejector. Six working lengths from 7″ for cervical work out to 14″ for a deep or lateral approach. Nine bite widths from 0.6mm for the tightest stenotic canal up to 6mm for clearing lamina in quantity.
The footplate is where the real decision sits. A standard plate is strongest; a thin or ultra-thin plate buys you clearance beneath ligament and bone in a canal that has none to spare. The ejector clears each bite so debris does not pack back into the jaw. And every one carries the black non-glare coating that has been our signature since 1992. That’s the Original Black Kerrison, hand finished, built to be serviced and resharpened rather than replaced.
